Spiced Red Cabbage

Ingredients

- 1/2 medium head red cabbage
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 medium onion
- 1 medium tart apple
- 3 tablespoons red wine vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
Recipe
- 1 bring a large pot of salted water to boil.
- 2 meanwhile, dice cabbage.
- 3 boil cabbage for 1 minute, drain and return to pot.
- 4 chop onion and slice apple.
- 5 add with remaining ingredients to the pot of cabbage.
- 6 cover and simmer until cabbage is tender, about 1 hour.
- 7 remove bay leaf and serve.
