Cabbage Toran

Ingredients
- Servings: 4
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 8 cups shredded cabbage
- 1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1/8 teaspoon chili powder (optional)
- 2 -3 tablespoons shredded unsweetened coconut
- salt
Recipe
- 1 heat the oil in a large skillet.
- 2 add the mustard seeds.
- 3 lower the heat and cover the skillet while the seeds are popping.
- 4 after the popping has stopped, add the cabbage.
- 5 stir well to coat.
- 6 cover and simmer 20 minutes.
- 7 add the turmeric, chili powder if desired, coconut and salt.
- 8 mix well.
- 9 cover and simmer 10 minutes more.
- 10 serve warm.
- 11 enjoy!
- 12 variation: to make vegetable toran, replace the cabbage with 6 cups frozen mixed vegetables.
