Frozen Red Slaw

Total Time: 1 hr 3 mins Preparation Time: 1 hr Cook Time: 3 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 head red cabbage, shredded
  • 1 cup carrot, grated
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1 tablespoon dry mustard
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 1/2 cup onion, diced
  • 1 stalk celery, diced

Recipe

  • 1 mix shredded cabbage, grated carrot, and salt in a large bowl; let stand one hour; drain very thoroughly.
  • 2 meanwhile while cabbage is setting, boil sugar, water, vinegar, celery seed, and dry mustard for a couple of minutes; cool.
  • 3 pour solution over drained cabbage and carrot; add diced bell pepper, onion, and celery; toss.
  • 4 put into freezer containers.
  • 5 thaw in refrigerator when ready to use.
