Creamy Baked Cabbage

Total Time: 55 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 45 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 1 head cabbage, about 2-1/2 lbs.
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 dash cayenne, if desired
  • 3 tablespoons butter or 3 tablespoons margarine
  • 1 cup hot milk
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese

Recipe

  • 1 heat oven to 350.
  • 2 butter a 12x8" shallow baking dish.
  • 3 slice the cabbage into 12 wedges.
  • 4 pour 1 cup water in large skillet and bring to boiling.
  • 5 add 1 teaspoons salt and the cabbage.
  • 6 cook over medium heat, covered, 10 minutes.
  • 7 drain well.
  • 8 arrange cabbage in prepared baking dish and sprinkle with mixture of flour, sugar, 1 teaspoons salt and the pepper.
  • 9 dot with butter and pour hot milk over cabbage; sprinkle with cheese.
  • 10 bake, uncovered, 35 minutes.
