Cabbage Lasagna

Total Time: 2 hrs Preparation Time: 1 hr Cook Time: 1 hr

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 1 head cabbage
  • 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb ground lamb
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 20 ounces tomato sauce
  • 20 ounces mixed cheeses
  • 24 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon parsley
  • 1/2 tablespoon basil
  • 1 teaspoon salt (to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 garlic cloves

Recipe

  • 1 slice cabbage head in half. slice long strips about 1/4inch wide.
  • 2 steam until just tender (~7 minutes) and set aside.
  • 3 brown meat, add spices.
  • 4 add onions to meat and sautee.
  • 5 add tomato sauce to meat and set aside.
  • 6 mix ricotta, eggs, and herbs.
  • 7 grease 2 qt baking dish.
  • 8 heat oven to 350.
  • 9 layer cabbage, then meat/tomato sauce, then ricotta. repeat.
  • 10 cover and bake 45 minutes at 350.
  • 11 uncover, put cheese on top, back 10 minutes or until cheese is browned.
  • 12 let rest 10 minutes before serving.
