Great Grandmother Marshall's Cabbage Rolls

Total Time: 1 hr 45 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 1 hr 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 head cabbage
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb ground sausage
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 teaspoon salt (to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon pepper (to taste)
  • 1 cup celery, diced
  • 1 cup onion, diced
  • 1 quart tomato (diced?)

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 300.
  • 2 cook rice according to directions.
  • 3 saute celery and onion in salt & pepper.
  • 4 brown beef and sausage.
  • 5 mix beef, sausage, onions, celery, rice, salt & pepper in a large bowl.
  • 6 separate cabbage leaves, keeping them whole.
  • 7 blanch leaves 5 minutes in boiling water.
  • 8 remove leaves from water.
  • 9 roll mix in cabbage and fasten with a toothpick.
  • 10 place in covered pan or casserole.
  • 11 pour tomatoes over rolls.
  • 12 cook slowly for about an hour or until done.
