Sarita's Multi Purpose Tomato Sauce

Ingredients
- 1 (8 ounce) can of regular tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup sliced onion
- 1/4 cup sliced green bell pepper
- 1/2 a roman tomato, thinly sliced
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- salt
- 16 ounces water (an 8 oz can of tomato sauce filled twice)
- cilantro, a couple of leaves
Recipe
- 1 on medium high, melt butter in small sauce pan. add the onions, bell pepper and tomato. let veggies saute in butter for about 2-3 minutes.
- 2 add tomato sauce, ketchup and water. stir and add the cumin. add salt to taste, add cilantro and let simmer for about 5-7 minutes or until the sauce has thickened enough to cover the back of a metal spoon when dipped in the sauce.
- 3 serve on top of cabbage salads or on the side as a dipping sauce.
