Sarita's Multi Purpose Tomato Sauce

Total Time: 15 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 (8 ounce) can of regular tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup sliced onion
  • 1/4 cup sliced green bell pepper
  • 1/2 a roman tomato, thinly sliced
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • salt
  • 16 ounces water (an 8 oz can of tomato sauce filled twice)
  • cilantro, a couple of leaves

Recipe

  • 1 on medium high, melt butter in small sauce pan. add the onions, bell pepper and tomato. let veggies saute in butter for about 2-3 minutes.
  • 2 add tomato sauce, ketchup and water. stir and add the cumin. add salt to taste, add cilantro and let simmer for about 5-7 minutes or until the sauce has thickened enough to cover the back of a metal spoon when dipped in the sauce.
  • 3 serve on top of cabbage salads or on the side as a dipping sauce.
