Mohawk Corn Soup

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 4 smoked lamb chops, chopped
  • 4 large carrots
  • rutabaga
  • 2 turnips, to taste
  • 1/4 cabbage
  • 2 cups hulled hominy, iroquois corn
  • 1/2 lb chopped venison
  • kidney beans or navy beans

Recipe

  • 1 cook in slow cooker the hulled hominy over night on low.
  • 2 rinse corn.
  • 3 brown and chop meat.
  • 4 chop cabbage, turnips, rutabagas and carrots to bite size.
  • 5 in a large soup pot pour all ingredients don’t drain the beans.
  • 6 fill with water 1" over all ingredients adding as needed.
  • 7 cook until all vegys are tender.
  • 8 note: making corn soup the traditional way of lying the corn is the easiest task.
