Aromatic Cabbage

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 1 small cabbage
  • 2 onions
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seed
  • 1/2 teaspoon fennel seed
  • 4 teaspoons sesame seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Recipe

  • 1 remove course outer leaves from cabbage, quarter, core and shred - a food processor is fine.
  • 2 peel, halve and slice onions thinly.
  • 3 heat oil in large wok or pan over medium heat.
  • 4 when very hot add cumin and fennel seeds and fry briefly (1-2 minutes) until they turn a bit darker, then toss in sesame seeds.
  • 5 stir briefly before adding onions.
  • 6 stir fry for 2 or 3 minutes until slightly browned around the edges.
  • 7 add shredded cabbage and toss onions through.
  • 8 cover tightly and turn heat to low.
  • 9 cook until cabbage wilts - about 3 minutes.
  • 10 uncover and cook over high heat
  • 11 stir fry 5 minutes or until cabbage cooked to your liking.
