Latvian Crockpot Kraut

Ingredients

- 1 (27 ounce) can sauerkraut, rinsed and drained
- 1 small head cabbage, thinly sliced
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 apples, peeled and diced
- 1 1/2 teaspoons caraway seeds
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons bacon drippings
Recipe
- 1 in a slow cooker, layer the drained kraut with sliced cabbage, onion and apples.
- 2 sprinkle each layer with caraway seeds and sugars.
- 3 pour bacon drippings over the top.
- 4 cover slow cooker and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours (on high for 3 hours).
- 5 stir well before serving with roast lamb and potatoes.
